Following her mother's hospitalization, 11-year-old Yuzu Morino moves in with her uncle, Akihito, at his workplace, the Blue Sky City Bow Wow Animal Hospital. In addition to her worries for her mother, Yuzu finds her new lifestyle troublesome, as she is terrified of animals. This is especially true when it comes to Sora, a stingy Chihuahua that is considered to be the poster child of the hospital. However, as she adjusts to her new home, Yuzu slowly finds herself overcoming her zoophobia and becoming more invested in the various animals visiting the hospital.
