Privacy Policy

Effective date: July 8, 2026

Rankeo ("we", "us") operates rankeo.one, a rankings and tier-list platform. This policy explains what data we collect, why, and the choices you have.

Data we collect

  • Account data — if you create an account: your email address, display name, optional username, bio and avatar. If you sign in with Google, we receive your name, email and profile picture from Google.
  • Content you create — ratings, episode votes, reviews, tier lists, comments and follows. Published content is visible to other visitors along with your display name.
  • Technical data — standard server logs (IP address, user agent, pages requested) kept for security and debugging, and error reports via Sentry (which may include IP address and browser details).

Cookies

We use a strictly necessary session cookie to keep you signed in, and local storage for preferences like theme. If advertising is enabled on the site (see below), Google and its partners may set additional cookies subject to your consent where required.

Advertising

We may display ads served by Google AdSense. Google, as a third-party vendor, uses cookies (including the DoubleClick cookie) to serve ads based on your visits to this and other sites. You can opt out of personalized advertising at Google Ads Settings. Where legally required (e.g. the EEA and UK), we will ask for your consent before any advertising cookies are set, and visitors from those regions are served non-personalized ads absent consent. Ads are never shown on age-gated sections of the site.

How we use data

  • To operate your account and show your content
  • To compute community rankings (your votes and reviews are aggregated into public scores; aggregates never identify you)
  • To secure the service and debug errors
  • To comply with legal obligations

We do not sell your personal data.

Sharing and processors

Data is processed by our hosting provider (Railway), error monitoring (Sentry), and — if you use Google sign-in or when ads are served — Google. Public ranking data we display comes from public sources (MyAnimeList, AniList, Kitsu, Reddit and others) and is not personal data about you.

Your rights

Depending on where you live (including under GDPR and CCPA), you may have the right to access, correct, export or delete your personal data, and to object to or restrict processing. You can delete your account and its data at any time by contacting us. We respond to all requests at [email protected].

Retention

Account data is kept while your account exists. Server logs and error reports are kept for a limited period for security and debugging. Deleted accounts have their personal data removed; anonymous aggregates (e.g. a title's average score) persist.

Children

Rankeo is not directed at children under 13 (or the minimum age in your jurisdiction), and we do not knowingly collect their data. Age-restricted sections require explicit adult verification.

Changes

We'll post any changes to this policy on this page with an updated effective date. Questions: [email protected]. See also our Terms of Service.
